What is Eid?

Eid means celebration or holiday. There are two Eids in Islam. Eid al-Fitr celebrates the end of the month-long fast of Ramadan.Eid al-Adha commemorates Prophet Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son, Ishmael, for the sake of God, who ultimately relieved Abraham of such a sacrifice.
